Disney has released the first image from TRON: Ares, the long-awaited new instalment in the groundbreaking TRON franchise. The film, which began production in Vancouver in January, is scheduled for release in 2025.
‘TRON: Ares is a sequel to Disney's 1982 science fiction film TRON and its 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy. The film promises to be a visually stunning journey into the digital world, with groundbreaking special effects and an exciting storyline.
Joachim Rønning, the film's director, says: “I am thrilled to be part of the TRON franchise and to bring this new film to fans around the world. The film builds on the legacy of cutting-edge design, technology and storytelling. Now more than ever, it feels like the right time to return to the Grid.”
The film follows a highly advanced programme, Ares, which is sent from the digital world to the real world on a dangerous mission. This marks humanity's first encounter with A.I. beings.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson.
‘TRON: Ares is produced by Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger. Russell Allen is the executive producer.
