This year, Disney and Pixar will present Soul, Turning Red, and Luca on the big screen. These screenings are a preview of the long-awaited release of the new Disney and Pixar film, Inside Out 2, which will hit cinemas this summer.
As usual, the cinema experience begins with a short animated film from Pixar preceding each feature film. On 14 February, Soul will be shown in cinemas, preceded by the captivating SparkShort ‘Burrow’. Turning Red will hit the big screen on 27 March, followed by the heart-warming SparkShort Kitbull. Finally, Luca will be released on 1 May, preceded by the well-known Pixar short For the Birds.
Soul
‘Directed by Oscar winner Pete Docter and co-directed by Kemp Powers, Soul takes us on a journey with Joe Gardner, a music teacher who is given an extraordinary opportunity. But a small misstep leads him to The Great Before. Together with ’22’, Joe discovers the meaning of being human and explores some of life's most important questions. ’Soul‘ won several Oscars and other prestigious awards, including Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Score.
Turning Red
‘Directed by Academy Award winner Domee Shi, Turning Red tells the story of Mei Lei, a 13-year-old girl caught between two worlds: that of her overprotective mother and that of exciting puberty. When Mei gets excited, she transforms into a giant red panda. The film was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
Luca
‘Luca’, a beautiful coming-of-age story set on the Italian Riviera, follows the summer adventures of Luca and his best friend Alberto. But there is a deep-rooted secret: they are sea monsters. Directed by Enrico Casarosa, ‘Luca’ received nominations for both an Oscar and a Golden Globe.
